Meet the artist

‘I find it magical to capture moments of beauty and stillness. I love to create and bring a moment of joy.’

Flokje van Lith is a Dutch contemporary artist driven by a fascination for light, stillness, and the power of imagery. Her creative journey began in photography but evolved into a more layered form of expression.

Educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, Flokje worked for many years as a portrait photographer. Over time, her focus shifted inward, from documenting the external to expressing something more extraordinary and timeless. Inspired by the Dutch Masters, she was in search for a new rhythm in creating and shaping each work in a painterly and solitude way.

After having completed her first autonomous series in 2011, it got selected immediately for the Photo Festival Naarden in the Netherlands and the Photo Festival Brooklyn in New York. Soon she worked with leading art galleries exposing her works at national and international art fairs like Art Miami, Scope Basel and PAN Amsterdam. Flokje’s artworks are part of private art collections all over the world and have won multiple international awards.

Let’s work and create together

Example text: Flokje uses the highest quality materials and believes that attention is key to beauty. Guided by perfectionism and a sharp eye for detail, she captures the perfect image and reveals the essence of her subject.

Flokje studied Photography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. She remembers the magical moment when her image used to appear, processed in darkness. For many years, Flokje worked as a portrait photographer.

Dutch Masters of the 17th century inspired her to work differently. She wondered what would happen working for a longer period on one work. After having completed her first autonomous series, it was immediately selected for the Photo Festival Naarden in the Netherlands and the Photo Festival Brooklyn in New York.

It’s all about connection

‘I love to connect while I’m photographing. When we work together, a kind of conversation begins. You give me something and I respond, a visual and personal language starts to unfold. There is always a special moment when something shifts. That’s when I capture something real, a glimpse of the soul.’
